Oak Leaf Festival

The Shenandoah Valley Mountain Music Makers Association is pleased to announce the 2011 1st Annual Oak Leaf Bluegrass & Mountain Music Festival. The festival is being held in Luray, Virginia on the campus of the new Luray Valley Museum at the World famous Luray Caverns July 2, 3, 4, 2011. We are totally excited! The Luray Valley Museum offers an opportunity to make the 50th anniversary celebration of the world’s 1st bluegrass festival a truly memorable event. The festival will also mark the grand opening of the Shenandoah Music Trail.

The three-day festival will showcase the Shenandoah Valley’s best musicians and singers and feature some the best National touring bands. There will also be featured Valley artisans & heritage displays, Virginia wine and hand crafted beer tastings, an assortment of great Valley foods and activities for the entire family. The Luray Valley Museum campus features a collection of buildings from the area including a restored (circa) 1860 log thrashing barn, (c) 1854 blacksmith shop, (c) 1830 Mennonite/Brethren Church, (c) 1883 Hamburg Free School, which is one of the first African-American Schools in Virginia, (c) 1840 Justice Bell House, a two-story center-stair log home, other historic out buildings and in the main museum there is a fine collection of Valley artifacts and art work. There will be special event activities in downtown Luray and a shuttle from the festival to the downtown district.
